MAREK BIRNER

Born in Munich on May 14, 1985. Raised in Toronto. Between 2004-2011, he spent time studying, travelling and working in France and Poland. Self taught actor. Poet. Writer.

Graduated the Warsaw Film School directing faculty in 2007 however he always felt more natural and passionate about acting. Wrote and directed a very personal film called “Krzyś” in 2006. His diploma film
“Wandering Daydreams” took part in the student festival sections at Era New Horizons in Wrocław
and in Gdynia in 2008. Co-wrote/produced the short film “Turysta” (2009) and went on to expand it
into the debut feature “Turysta” (2012) with co-producer and director/writer Tom Sokalski. Has worked on numerous TV and Film sets in the directing and acting departments.

Character bio | Marek is an American who, after flunking out of University in Paris, decides to remain in Europe to pursue the arts in hopes that it will give depth and identity to his life. On this search for meaning he meets Ewa and Magda – Ewa enriches his sense of passion for the arts and culture while Magda’s materialism influences him pragmatically. Both play a role in shaping his identity which is a constant struggle within.
